Try running /scripts/ftpupdate and then give it a try. This script recreates the file /etc/proftpd/passwd.vhost from the individual files in /etc/proftpd.

It'll be difficult to resolve this issue in a timely manner through the forums. I recommend submitting a support ticket.

this may be a little late but im having this problem to. I have however come to a temp fix for this. Its not full proofe but it works.

Lets take my server for example.

    if you cd /etc/proftpd
    and then
    ls

you will see a list of files.

    digtox skull hosting passwd.vhosts

now keep these files in mind
edit your proftpd.conf (locate it if you need it)

a short way down you should see:
    AuthUserFile /etc/proftpd/passwd.vhosts

you need to add each of the files you see in /etc/proftpd
so for me it looks like
    AuthUserFile /etc/proftpd/passwd.vhosts
    AuthUserFile /etc/proftpd/digtox
    AuthUserFile /etc/proftpd/skull
    AuthUserFile /etc/proftpd/hosting

    and so on.

    Hope that helps.
