I need to hide my personal IP while sending email (I don't send bulk mail - I handle customer service responses via email). I have been using webmail (webmail lite addon for cpanel). It still shows my oringinating IP. My thought is to setup a proxy on our server to allow me to connect to it via firefox w/ proxy settings. However, I cannot find any documentation to support proxies and cpanel, together. I know of squido but I am affraid it may mess up something with cpanel. A proxy setup on our server with user/pass would be preferred so that I am the only one with access.

    Please advise.

I thought some of the webmail programs we provide only send emails from localhost once authenticated. Have you tried using one of our webmail programs such as Roundcube rather than this webmail lite addon?

No, but those web mail clients are not user friendly enough to use....

Proxies aren't typically very user friendly to use either for that matter. Since Roundcube does work to my knowledge to send as localhost, it's what I've suggested. I don't suggest providing a proxy to hide your IP from the email originator, since webmail at least will use your server's name to send it. If you proxy it, they won't even get that, which makes it easier to spoof. Not something I will recommend to someone.

Of note, many hosting providers will scan for proxies and disable them.

I've had a proxy setup before on our other server. I defined the IP, Port, User and password in firefox and anytime firefox was used, it proxied through the server. It was VERY easy to use the proxy.

The cpanel webmail clients are not an option. They're terrible. Please advise if you know of a way to make webmail lite run as localhost.

I don't know details about webmail lite, since we do not provide it. Is webmail lite this application -> AfterLogic Projects

If so, they have a community forum at Webmail Lite / Afterlogic forum

Otherwise, if your hosting provider has it as an option, you might contact them to see if they know more about this component they have available.
