I switched to from ProFtp to Pure-ftp but now, whenever I try to download a file that has more than 1Kb i get the following error message:

    Command: RETR inbox
    Response: 150-Connecting to port 27779
Response: 150 99400.1 kbytes to download
Response: 450 Error during write to data connection: Invalid argument
    Error: Download failed

I've restart the ftp server several times.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Are you using Passive Mode in your FTP client? If yes, disable it. If no, enable it. Also, do you have an iptables firewall? If you do, does it allow connections to ethereal ports if an existing connection exists? (e.g. APF does)

    That didn't work.

This only happens in large files. Can can download small files, no problem.
Tried with several FTP clients... always the same message.

Everything was working fine before I changed to pure-ftp. Should I revert to proftp?

    thanks

Well, I'd say yes, but only because I prefer proftpd. Why did you switch in the first place?

I switched because Proftp seemed too slow... and we saw a great speed increase when switching to pure-ftp.

I try to revert to proftp and see if the problem solves itself.

    thanks

If you switch back to proftpd, add the following directives at the top of your /etc/proftpd.conf file after having made the switch in WHM:
    Code:
    AuthPAM off
    UseReverseDNS off
    IdentLookups off
These usually speed up logins, etc, greatly. After amking the change you have to stop then start proftpd:

    /etc/init.d/proftpd stop
    /etc/init.d/proftpd start
