Hi guys, i'm new to this so any help would be appriciated.

I cant seem to start pure-ftpd. I tried restarting the service in WHM but it doesn't seem to come up. I also tried checking the service status in SSH by typing "service pure-ftpd status" it comes back with stopped. I also tried before that "ftp localhsot" which is permission denied. Does anybody know how to fix this problem or what might be going on?

    Regards
    James

Have you tried restarting it by shell or checking the logs?

Need detailed information in order to help you. Try /scripts/ftpup --force and see if that helps!

You need to manually create the pem file needed for Pure-FTPd.

openssl req -new -x509 -newkey rsa:1024 -days 9999 -nodes -keyout /etc/ssl/private/pure-ftpd.pem -out /etc/ssl/private/pure-ftpd.pem

    Then chmod 0600 that file.

This is a deficiency in the pure-ftpd RPM we distribute. Any Distro using openssl 0.9.8 will face this.

worked for me too - seems FC5 and cpanel arent fully compatible at the moment - hopefully it will work fine till cpanel gets an update to make it happier with FC5

    Cheers

A quick update on this, the next version of PureFTPd and ProFTPd we distribute will have the Cert generation working for both openssl 0.9.8 and 0.9.7. ProFTPd 1.3.0 and PureFTPd 1.0.21 are in QA testing now.

Due to a snafu, the RPMs we recently published for Stable, Current and Release, went out without the proper openssl fix, sorry about that. We are currently testing a new RPM that has the proper fix and a few other fixes (allows use of /etc/ftpusers to disallow logins for example).

I have tried this fix, but it still does not work.

FTP now restarts, but no accounts can login it just hangs.
