There's an on going problem with one of my clients backups... when they try do Generate and download a backup they run into the problem of the file being 2.8GB PureFTP says that the file is too large and won't let them download it...

The only solution I've seen is to recompile PureFTP with --with-largefiles as an option. IMHO It would almost make more sense to have the backup split the file and let you download the chunks...

    Any suggestions?

    Go on, have a guess
If you give the user shell access they could use SCP or SFTP instead which shouldn't have any such limitations.

Not a bad idea... except most of my users can just about use FrontPage letting them play in a shell is more than dangerous....
