Two of my clients complains about rights issues. After further investigation, it turned out, that the immutable bit was set either on the public_html or one of the directories in the webroot. How is that possible?

AFAIK, only root ( or process running with root privileges ) can set the immutable bit. Is that possible, that pureftpd is setting the bit? Or a web application? Or something else?

    Thanks,

    Tamas

I've found it, so just for the record: it was the CSF firewall, I've enabled LF_SCRIPT_PERM, which sets the +i if founds a mail sending script, etc.... so /me was lame
