    I have seen that many email sending issues gets resolved by deleting the /etc/eximmailtrap file
    What is the use of this file?
    and
    What settings create this file?

    Any ideas?

    Go on, have a guess
    It's part of the SMTP Tweak or the nobody email block, I believe, sometimes it doesn't seem to get removed if you disable it. It's controlled by the setting in /var/cpanel/cpanel.config eximmailtrap= set it to 0 and delete the file to prevent further issues.

    I am also having intermittent trouble with 'unroutable domains' caused by the mailtrap lines in exim.pl
    PHP:
    #MAILTRAP

    my $safegid = (getgrnam("mailtrap"))[2];
       if (
    $uid >= 99 && $gid >= 99 && $safegid ne $gid && -"/etc/eximmailtrap") {
            die
    "Gid $gid is not permitted to relay mail";
       }

    #MAILTRAP
    toggling the eximmailtrap in cpanel.config seems to toggle the
    "Track the origin of messages sent though the mail server by adding the X-Source headers (exim 4.34+ required)"
    setting in WHM -> tweak settings.

    I do not want to disable the x-source mail headers, does anyone have further insight into the eximmailtrap setting?
