okay, so here is a screen shot of my sites bandwidth usage:

    http://www.MegaShare.com/images/65

on the "Today" chart, the top one, it goes well over 20Mbits/sec...right?

but on the "Year" chart, the bottom one, it barely goes past 6Mbits/sec.....

the bottom one should be a more general chart of the top chart, right?

why is it like this? which one is right/accurate?

    Averages

    Sir,

The MRTG appears to be showing the Average -
This is the general setup for MRTG.

Your Average for the year - is much less than 20mbps

    Hope that helps

    MRTG Explanation

The Multi Router Traffic Grapher (MRTG) is a tool to monitor the traffic load on network-links. MRTG generates HTML pages containing GIF images which provide a LIVE visual representation of this traffic. Check http://www.ee.ethz.ch/stats/mrtg/ for an example. MRTG is based on Perl and C and works under UNIX and Windows NT. MRTG is being successfully used on many sites around the net.

To learn more I would suggest a simple Google Search like this one:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=how+to+explain+mrtg&btnG=Google+Search

in short - MRTG is the application which built these graphs...
another tool similar is called RRDTool

Its beginners guide is available online here http://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/tut/rrd-beginners.en.html

    Go on, have a guess
Do note that cPanel doesn't use MRTG, though. It uses RRDTool - which is an alternative image creation package.
