Question Regarding Addon Domains & setsiteip()

    Hi all, I am developing an application that will use cPanel's API and was wondering about the setsiteip().

    Would an addon domain be considered a site and could I assign a separate IP to it from the accounts main IP? Also can the IP be shared? Or would I have to create a new account with that domain in order to change the IP?

    setsiteip XML-API call and domain types in cPanel

    Hi darrenl,

    The setsiteip XML-API call is for delegating an IP to an account. You can only delegate 'main shared' IP to more than one accounts. An account can only have one IP. If you wish to have a subdomain be reach by a dedicated IP, then it would need to be it's own cPanel account; managed separately of the domain(root).
