Hello,

Recently i have been using cpanel to move multiple accounts from one cpanel server to another with the intention to have a mirror of the server then eventually use it as the main server and phase out the old one. Now no ips need to be changed as they will remain assigned to me. However i have noticed something and this is where the question comes in to it. So far i have moved 3 accounts and all of them show wrong disk space usage and mysql database compaired to the original server. Can anyone explain why and how to solve that. I have also noticed one of the moved sites has a DB error now and the problem is because the database seems to not be fully moved.

Original server is centos 5.1 latest WHM/Cpanel
NEW Server is centos 6.5 latest WHM/Cpanel

All settings should be pretty much the same in terms of PHP/MySQL settings.

Any info on this would help.

Also i have another question regarding DNS setup, If i have the main server as alpha.domain.net and ns1 as cpanel dns only and NS2 on the main server is that possible and also is it better to have

alpha.domain.net WHM/Cpanel full
NS1/2 Cpanel DNS only

And what happens in each case if the main server goes down will subdomain/a records still be served ?

Thanks

Hello :)

1. I recommend using the "quota" and "du" commands on the servers to determine where the disk space usage is coming from. There is a good guide on this at:

How to: Manage your hard drive space

Also, check the transfer logs to see if there were any database errors during the transfer. The logs are available at:

"WHM Home » Transfers » Review Copied Accounts"

2. Yes, the DNS itself would still function if you have NS1/NS2 on remote servers and the primary server fails. It's recommended that you have your hosting server synchronize zones to the DNS-Only servers as shown in the example here:

Guide to DNS Cluster Configuration - Use Direct Links

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply, I ment to say that it appears as if all the files do not correctly stream/move over from main server to new server, I dont think there is an issue with incorrect details being displayed i think its to do with the move of files it self. Maybe there was an error with the move perhaps i can locate logs? I presume that the move its self is causing the problems but im not 100% hence why im asking lol.

Check "WHM Home » Transfers » Review Copied Accounts" for the transfer log to see if you notice any error messages during the transfer.

Thank you.
