In a CPanel shared environment, running PHP as an apache module, a php info page for any virtual host will not list populated variables such as doc_root.

However, utilizing super globals like $_SERVER to get the document root work fine within a virtual host directory.

Is there a basic explanation somewhere as to why these server variables are not populated. Does it have anything to do with php running as an apache module?
