Hi,

I have a few shared servers that contents 200 to 300 hundreds domains. But we always encountered the following problem:

1. Lost email - email seems not to arrive to the recipient or send out without any bounce back

2. Email delay - those email is either stuck in the queue or is sent out but not arriving

3. Spam - this is a disaster. What can we do to reduce it?

4. Server overloading - the CPU usage is always quite high that used by some domains

So can anyone give us their feedback or any advice or guidance in order to deal with these?

Thank you.

Regards,
Admin J.

Probably all related. Too much email activity and spam forwarding. Most likely you have users using their default email and getting tons of spam, and/or you have users forwarding to outside mail providers and forwarding spam as well.

Try cleaning up the mail system first and if that doesn't help the load, find the sites using CPU and see why they are. Maybe there are just too many active accounts on the server.

All accounts should have default email set to fail.

if you are sure it is just the mail server slowing you down
a good set of exim RBL's would help and reject as much garbage before it hits the server

IG:anti dictionary attack, surbl, spamhuas, etc, etc,

First locate the reason for server loading using view bandwidth usuage option in whm and find out the domains using more bandwith .
For Spam , you will need to check the spamassisin for the domains .Did you install modsecurity , clamva , mails scaaner on your server ?
Regarding emails , check the mail logs in /var/log/exim_mailogs , you can control the number of mails send from server using whm >> tweak settings
