    Hello,

On my server, I have following setting:

    Code:

    open_basedir

    /home/
    :/usr/lib/php
    :/usr/local/lib/php
    :/tmp/
    :/usr/local/
    :/usr/bin

Now, I am little bit confused about ending / in the /home/ setting, does that mean that all subfolders inside home have same rights? or does it mean that only home files can be accessed?

So, basically what is the main difference between:

    /home/

    and

    /home

    With example if possible

    Thank you in advance.

In the specific case of "open_basedir", it's the exact same thing ....
    Code:
    /home and /home/

Anything BELOW "home" would be permitted by open_basedir

(Note that you might still be restricted by folder and file permissions though)

You did not mention what type of PHP you have but if you are using any type of PHP other than DSO then there are a lot of special considerations you need to consider to make sure you don't mess yourself up when enabling open_basedir. This is by no means a reason for staying with DSO but just rather making you aware you cannot just arbitrarily enable open_basedir on a non-DSO system.
