My hosting service has been giving me problems with my logs.

In all the years I have had a hosting service, I have never had a problem having my complete logs rotated and compressed at the end of the month. My current service has apparently misconfigured something and this is not happening. He wants to implicate Cpanel, but I do not for a second believe this is the issue.

What is happening now is that my logs only reflect about 4-7 days worth of activity, usually starting with the last or 2nd to last day of the (previous) month.

Recently, I had to look in my logs to find the IP address responsible for a particular order as I am being billed a chargeback with the cardholder saying they did not authorize a transaction, and I wanted to have the log info to backup my claim should it come down to that. No dice.

I have been around and around on this one a year and a half ago with them, and at one time they seem to have had it fixed, but checking the logs indicates that didn't last once they moved my site to a different server.

Can anyone point out what they need to reconfigure to make this right so I can let them know?

Thanks much in advance.

I have looked at this post numerous times and hesitated to even respond because of your snotty attitude about not believing your host~
Yes in fact there are and have been serious issues with the logrotater scripts - However if you ask your host to submit a ticket to cpanel for a repair they have been able to fix it in SOME cases -
I still have some units malfunctioning and not correctly rotating logs even after cpanel tried to repair them,.
Cpanel is a great thing but this isnt really cpanels fault it is the fault of the operating system to be truthful with you and not all operating systems are affected by this issue.
Take it easy on your host whoever they are - I can personally say our cpanel tickets for repairs are at an all time high right now for items we have not been able to repair such as this. In the last 5 years we have submitted more tickets this last 3 months than all of the previous 5 years combined! Its not always your hosts fault .
