Hi all,

Just wondering on this topic.

I Have always run a dedicated or VPS server with rDNS and PTR records set as DOMAIN.COM only.

Is it better practice to use your hostname and mail, so YOURHOSTNAME.DOMAIN.COM and MAIL.DOMAIN.COM if you have several IP's available?

Or is it just as safe to continue to use DOMAIN.COM on all available PTR records?

Many thanks.

Hello,

It's generally advised to configure the RDNS record of the IP address used to send email to the server's hostname. If you have configured Exim to send email from an account's dedicated IP address, ensure the RDNS records for the dedicated IP address point to the individual domain name.

Here's a useful document explaining additional methods to keep email out of the SPAM folder:

Thank you.
