recover lost emails

Is there a way to recover the emails that were delivered to the server but not to the mailbox? Mailscanner was crashing so the emails never made it to the intended recipients...

Go on, have a guess
If you restart MailScanner they should then be delievered. If you've uninstalled MailScanner completely then you'll likely have deleted the emails. They'd have been in the additional queue /var/spool/exim_incoming/input/*
