Hello. Today I installed the сPanel on my server. But trying to access it with a login "root", password "my root password", I have an error. How do I reset my password?
    Sorry for my bad English)

You might want to contact your Hosting Provider if you're unsure of your root password.

Sorry, I'm unclear on your post I guess. What is the error you're getting when trying to login to WHM?

Login to IP:2083 -> Enter login "root" and password "my ssh password" -> The login is invalid.

But you can login via SSH as root, is that correct?

Yikes! My apologies. You did mention 2083 in an earlier post which is for cPanel access, not WHM access, and I missed that.

I'll go get more coffee now. Clearly needed.

As mentioned, cPanel on port 2083 doesn't allow root login. That url only allows accounts you've created in WHM on port 2087 (http://IP#:2087 where IP# is your server's IP number) in Create a New Account area to log into cPanel.

The reason root username cannot log into 2083 port is that cPanel is for account level access only. The root user is a WHM administrator (port 2087) rather than a cPanel level user (port 2083). As such, cPanel accounts on 2083 require the cPanel username.
