Recover WHM Root password?

helo i am new to these forums and where 100% where to post such a question.

now i like to be prepared for worst case scenarios...

if i lost my WHM root password that includes SSH....

how would one recover this?

my hosting is hostgator would they be able to recover it? like via direct access to server via data centre?

The only way to recover the root password is to reset it to a known value. It is not stored in a human-readable format anywhere on the server. If you lose your root password, your hosting provider or data center can attach a console to the server and reboot it into single-user mode and reset the root password for you.

As a side note, you set your access level in your forum profile to "Website Owner." The access level helps us give you appropriate answers based on your level of access, so it helps us if you make sure it is accurate. If you would like, I can change your access level for you.
