Just saw these two RedHat issues come through:

Updated Apache and mod_ssl packages fix security vulnerabilities
    https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2003-243.html

Updated Perl packages fix security issues.
    https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2003-256.html

Is cPanel going to be addressing these issues, or should I be patching my boxes myself? Or, for those of you with more experience with cPanel, is this something that they normally deal with?

AND, how about we add a "Security" forum here to cover things like this. And for that matter, how about some forum moderators so that users actually feel like cPanel are listening?

The perl update will be pushed to you automaticlly if you are using RedHat.

As for apache, just check WHM. If it tells you to rebuild then you will need to.

As for this apache problem, its been fixed for about 2 months if you have rebuilt apache in that time.

    Re: Re: RedHat vulnerabilities

Just out of curiosity, is the automatic update a function of cPanel or Red Hat? That is, will the upcp script initiate this for me, or does my server need to be getting these updates from Redhat explicitly?

    Thanks!

I'm sure perl on cpanel is built on source from the initial install. using up2date to upgrade a package might cause two versions of perl on the same system, and a host of problems. Can cpanel confirm whether or not their version has the bug?
