redirect email

I want to direct any email sent to a non existent sub domain.

I can get domain redirection using a wildcard and email wildcard on the main domain:

[email protected] > redirects successfully

however the following fails:

user@unknownsubdomain.mysubdomain.maindomain.com FAILS

How do I redirect any emails sent to a unknown sub domain as above to a catchall?

I don't believe this is possible in the same way you can't create an email account for a wildcard or a forwarder.
