    Hello all,

I have a small doubt and I need some one to clarify this.

a ) When should we use .htaccess for redirection ?

    OR

    b) When should Apache be used for redirection ?

In what conditions should one of the above be used ?

Thank you all for your understanding and clarifying my doubts :)

I think the easiest answer might be, I used to have a popular page on my account located here:
    mydomain.com/windows98.html
That page is now outdated and should be taken down. But I don't want users visiting it to find a 404 instead (page not found) so I might create an htaccess redirect to:
    mydomain.com/windows7.html

Now my visitors are greeted with a new page instead of no page.

I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for here though.
