    Hello

I installed mailscanner for cpanel a few months ago, following instructions here on the forum, but now one of my clients is complaining about not being able to send or receive a certain type of file, used for ordering elevator drawings. The company he deals with has this special type of binary file used for these drawings but the problem is mailscanner is rejecting this type of file saying it's an executable.

Can I somehow whitelist his account so he can receive and send this type of file?
If so, how do I do it?

It doesn't help to zip the file or rename it, mailscanner still detects it as an executable.

I will be very greatful for a good answer.

    Best regards, Arnór Heiðar

You need to have a look at the following two files:

    /usr/mailscanner/etc/filename.rules.conf
    /usr/mailscanner/etc/filetype.rules.conf

Check the first one and make sure whatever the file type is is not listed in there as deny. If it isn't, then check the second file. The user most likely is tripping over the deny executable No executables No programs allowed rule.

You have two choices, comment out the offending block in the first file if it exist and comment out all the executable blocks in the second file (the restart MailScanner), or if you use my latest MailScanner distribution, do this:

    weird

I did the modifications, but I can't seem to be able to restart the damn thing. No service running called mailscanner.

    Try (with the correct case):

    service MailScanner restart
