Im trying the register_cpanelplugin option to create an icon in cPanel that when clicked on will simply redirect to our sites helpdesk

Unfortunately it seems that it wants to try and find the file in a local directory:

is there a way to work around this so i can just get the icon to simply open a url in target=_blank

Was the install file copied to the appropriate directory, as seen below?
    Code:
    /usr/local/cpanel/bin/
If not, does the output differ (or proceed further) when specifying the full path to the install file?

For additional information please reference the following documentation that details how to install custom cPanel plug-ins: cPanel Plugins Installation Instructions

    thanks for the quick response

the file is definately in the /usr/local/cpanel/bin/ folder set to 755

i realise what the problem is now...

I needed to specify the full path to the file

the documentation didnt mention that ....

One thing i am stuped on however is the naming and setup of the group

Ive followed the discussion at http://forums.cpanel.net/f42/custom-display-groups-cpanel-95781.html and looked at AddingIconsAndGroup < DeveloperResources < TWiki but i dont seem to be able to get the group to register or display

i created a file in the x3 skin at /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x3/dynamicui called dynamicui_new_menu.conf with the following code:

    Code:
    groupdesc=>Support Links,description=>grouping of support link icons,file=>new_menu,group=>new_menu,group order=>-999,imgtype=>icon,subtype=>img,type=>image,height=> 32,width=>32
it doesnt display however and the icons ive added instead display in a blank group, so perhaps i should have created the group first???

I have submitted an internal inquiry on your behalf seeking information regarding the documented instruction versus what you reported experiencing while attempting the install. For reference and tracking purposes this inquiry has been assigned the following internal case ID: #37328

Thank you for the update; to help others that may read your thread, were there any specific steps used to alleviate the difficulty adding a custom group, such as correcting the dynamicui configuration entry, or other steps?

For more verbose details of the DynamicUI configuration files I recommend referencing the following documentation: DynamicUI Reference Charts

    Reference: cPanel Plugins Installation Instructions

Per internal case #37328 the documentation article for cPanel plug-in installation, as referenced above, has been updated to clarify that it is required to specify the full path to the cPanel plug-in install file.

We appreciate your bringing this to our attention; if you may have any additional questions please let us know. :)
