    if you have /tmp mounted noexec then everytime the syslog log rotate tries to run syslogd will hang and this problem with reoccur

    You have to modify the /etc/cron.daily/logrotate to add a seperate tmp folder

    add these 2 lines

    TMPDIR=/somewhere/tmp
    export TMPDIR

    I'm not sure why this is happening. But some of my clients get relaying denied errors and the fix is for me to restart syslog. This doesn't happen very often. But i'm not sure why the IP address isn't being allowed and why restarting syslog fixes it.

    Anyone else had an issue like this before?
