Now a days there are companies out there offering remote backup solutions at affordable prices. Now, when trying both Samba and NFS mounts and running the backup via WHM the speeds were very slow (20KB/s).

We recently found a great company who we are using for remote backups and the best solution is to rsync everything directly. When using Rsync, the speed is 1MB/s+.

So basically cPanel has the ability to currently backup to FTP, or Hard Drive. The request is to make cPanel backup incrementally via Rsync. Basically another option in the Backup Configuration to Incrementally backup via Rsync.

For instance, right now we have to backup our Entire Server which doesn't take long as it does it incrementally, but it will be a pain to restore from as it's not tied in to WHM and we cannot simply click restore in WHM.

We have a cronjob on each server set to run around midnight (Each server is different) and it runs: rsync -avz -e ssh /

What we requested, is that cPanel add the option to complete a daily backup using that above method as it works really well, and is very fast!

If you would like to have this as well, please reply to this thread and most importantly the bugzilla feature request as the more people we get to request this the sooner we'll have it!
