i want to setup remote database server for a singlw WHM intaaltin that host heavy traffic websites

ihave 2 question

1- am i need a seperate license and installation on Cpanel/WHM for Remote Database Server
if not is this ok to just install mysql server with something like webmin and then conncet it to the WHM server ?


2- what is the best and max acceptable Network latency and hop for a remote database server ?
<1ms ?
~10ms ?
~50ms ?
~100ms ?

1. No there is no need of separate cPanel license just for MySQL. Just install MySQL on new server , allow remote access to root user with your cPanel server IP and add it to your WHM server.

2. For good speed and connectivity it should be <1ms and single hop. But it doesn't matter if the connectivity is good between the two servers.

actualy i was thinking about put servers in diffrent datacenters
and may be the latency is about 20 to 90ms

do you think this work ?

in some datacenter i could have hoursePower for Database server for lower price

Hello,

Yes, Remote MySQL will work with the 20 to 90ms latency. You should not get any issues but I will also suggest you setup the remote MySQL server in same datacenter with the private network so that you can connect your MySQL server using the private network

You can utilize the remote MySQL feature even if cPanel is not installed on the remote server.
