I'm looking for a decent provider who can monitor my Linux web servers remotely, in real-time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Can anyone advise me which ones are the best to use?

I like pingdom.com for checking if servers are up, doesnt handle each service very good but I really like the fact that they monitor from several countries and that you can set a specific amount of errors you tolerate before alerts are flying off. I have 0 false positives with it so far.

sends mail and or sms, costs about $10/mo.

Here is a GREAT one that not only will monitor the server, but will also manage it for you. I use them for all of our dedicated servers they are GREAT, and usually very fast.

They have both a monitoring only package and a monitoring plus management package. Monitoring is only like 9 bucks per month or something... I use the management so I pay a little bit more.

http://monitoring.frhweb.com is not a false link, that is how I send other people there. It counts how many people actually click on it... I like seeing how many people actually take my advice ;) if no one ever does, I just keep those things to myself.

I have a great expeierence with them. I have 3 of my dedicated servers with them for their full management and they have went over and beyond.

PS> Also, they go further than just monitoring, they will even contact your datacenter and tell them to reboot the server if it is down.
