    Hi,

We want to remove all themes from cpanel except the rvskins we have installed, how do we prevent the default themes from returning when we run and update?

Maybe there should be an option to remove all themes and select which ones should be updated - (not just for the addon themes like there is currently).

    Kind Regards,

    Neil

    Hi,

Won't that mean they still show up in WHM?

    Kind Regards,

    Neil

I agree with you. This guy doesnt have the faintest idea. If you chattr it then those directory names will still appear but with nothing in them. Howabout those useless symmlinks

    drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Mar 11 00:26 ./
    drwxr-xr-x 14 root root 4096 Mar 15 17:05 ../

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root wheel 7 Mar 11 00:26 YES -> default/

Whats this YES, NO TREE stuff? I wish they would remove those useless symmlinks. They point to default and advanced themes and do nothing but confuse everyone. When our resellers select themes, they have to weed through a whole bunch of useless YES, NO, TREE etc themes that actually points to one theme, the default. It looks like a bunch of old themes that were never cleaned up from the theme list back from the beginning of cpanels inception. Can we have this stuff removed. Its totally nuts. It would be enough just to have DEFAULT, ICONIC and anything else added by us. Why have all the others?

I just deleted all the sym links. I've updated cpanel since then and they didn't reappear, but if they do, I'd just set a cgi script to run daily to delete them if they exist.

I don't think there is a way to permanently remove the 2 default themes, but you could just delete them and run a script regularly to keep them out.

Hello, you could mv default, advanced and whatever else you want to move out of the frontend directory however the moment cpanel sends a new update they are recreated. And those symmlinks will also be recreated. Just be aware that if you mv the default etc themes out, and you have users who are using themes default, advanced because they dont know any better, that those users be left with no theme.when they log in. Arrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh! What a mess!

None of my hosting packages use the default themes so I don't need to worry about that. I've seen the default themes come back with updates, but the symbolic links haven't been put back yet.

I don't know how this will affect the features of the themes we are using.

I'm using the new rvskins which allow clients to change the theme and the language from within their cpanel - I'm not sure how what your suggesting will affect these features.

I did suggest a feature for better theme managment months ago, well before v6 infact not long after the add-on themes option was first introduced!

Basically it is built on from this, allowing us to select the themes we want to have out of those that come as standard. Having these checked will mean they auto update, un checking will prevent them from updating and if removed they DO NOT return!!

Hey ozzi4648, on another note is installing ChiliSoft ASP pretty straight forward?

Anything I should be aware of before I start?

    Kind Regards,

    Neil
