When I go to Reseller Center -> Remove Reseller Privileges it seems to remove the account (no longer shows under Reseller Center) but when I go to Show Reseller Accounts it still shows at the bottom as a reseller (normal accounts show as root). I've tried re-adding and removing it again, same thing.

Is there a way to remove the reseller account completely without removing the user account itself?

Removing reseller privileges *should* do what you intend it to do (remove reseller privileges without removing the user account). I'd recommend submitting a ticket regarding this issue so our technicians can take a closer look at it. I've noticed a few issues on various forums regarding reseller accounts in the past day or so.
