Rename a mailbox

Is there a way to rename a mailbox?

For example if I have an email address [email protected] and i wish to rename it to [email protected]

Could this be done?

Sure, delete the first and create the second. (download your mail first)

Create the second mailbox account and use your choice of command to move the files over from the old account into the new account. For instance,

cd /home/user/mail/domain.com/oldmailbox; tar cf - . | (cd ../newmailbox; tar xf -)
