request assistance with password protected directories

I need some help explaining something to my web host I do not know if its a glitch or what

When ever I have used the password protected directories to protect something like a subdomain
when ever I went back to the main index page, it would make that sub domain invisible so you could not see it, thats the way it has always worked, but now something has happen to make it viable, I keep trying to explain that to them but they simply keep telling me it does not work that way when I have been doing it for like over 7 years can anyone tell me what they could check for ?

What do you mean by invisible? Password protecting a directory does not make it invisible, it makes it inaccessible. Without the login details.
Please provide exact steps and I'll try and make something disappear on this end too if I can.

ok here is my webites index - Removed - as you can see has some links on it the osdate is protected but is showing

Here is to do:

Create a subdomain, then look at your index to make certain it is showing,
Now go into your password protected directories choose the sub domain you just created then click go at the top you willl see where it says current folder click on the first folder to the left of that, That will take you to the next page, enter in your user pass word info and at the top give a name to the directory and put a check mark the box at the top, log out of cpanel and go back and look at your index and you should now notice that the sub domain you created is no longer showing
