Do all resellers of cPanel REMOVE the backup and backup wizard buttons from the File Manager section of the control panel.

This was one of the main reasons I wanted to use cPanel and now I cannot back up anything which is just what I wanted to avoid.

If anyone knows of a reseller who includes these backup buttons please let me know.

Hi Jim,

I guess your hosting provider might be disabled the Backup options in their WHM feature list to prevent the users from taking backups. Since your access level shows Website Owner, you will need to contact your hosting provider to get this feature again within the cPanel interface. If they are not providing such a simple feature, I would suggest moving to a new hosting provider who giving out all default functionalities of cPanel.

Hi @Jimbo17##

It may be fairly common for providers to remove the ability for you to create backups on shared servers as they typically want to limit the amount of space consumed on the server. Before moving away you might reach out to them to see if this is something they're willing to negotiate on. As far as specific providers that keep this setting, I'm not able to provide specifics and we would discourage advertising here but you may want to reach out some providers and ask what the features they offer with their shared hosting packages are.

I fully understand the reasoning behind the hosting service removing the backup option buttons but it leaves the website owner with no way of doing monthly websites backs just in case something happens which in my case it has.

My next question would be how often to hosting companies backups for websites? Is it only when you call and ask for one or is this something most hosting companies do once a month?

I made a dump mistake and deleted a subdomain and now find myself contacting the hosting service for help in making a backup copy of the website.

I just wonder how many other resellers of CPanel are doing the exact same thing.

In the instance where this has been made unavailable to you, you'd need to work with your provider to identify a plan for instances in which you'd need a backup for.

We'd have absolutely no way to answer this question for you. There is no general rule that they even need to do this. This is a provider based option and if they do provide backups they're the only ones that would be able to inform you of the frequency they create them.
