I don't know if this is related to WHM but since I initially setup bind and my nameservers with WHM I'll post.

My server will not resolve some domain names. Not local domain names, those are fine. I've found two domain names so far that it will not resolve into an IP address - redhat.com and gamesekai.com

At first, I had an rndc error, which I fixed with the scripts. Then I had a problem with my own Nameservers not resolving on the server, but they would resolve everywhere else. I had too delete the zone records for the nameservers. So, I had these errors and kept finding one after another and fixed them all hoping that they would fix the error I started on. One of my clients was trying to get and send email from/to gamesekai.com and this is how I found out the error.

Gamesekai.com can not send email to my server either, which is odd but in the end, I still can not resolv those 2 domains (probably more) with ping, dig, etc. My server, DNS/bind and nameservers (seem) to be running fine with no errors or anything. Any idea why the hell it can't resolv redhat.com or gamesekai.com into an IP???

    Hey,
You had readhat.com instead of redhat.com. Redhat.com doesn't have any errors and I don't have any except for a reverse DNS lookup on mail which is being fixed.

Any other ideas guys? If I changed the nameservers, it works fine.

    You own RedHat Linux? (redhat.com)

Uhh, jdelozier... you were the one that posted 'readhat.com' in your original post. If you cannot provide accurate information, how do you expect us to help you?

I think you should re-state the question.

Redhat.com has nothing to do with your server and whether it resolves to an IP address (66.187.232.50) or not -- for you -- is not a problem any of us can fix.

    http://dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=gamesekai.com

still shows NS problems. If that is your account then we can help with that, if we know more information.

    Hello,
I know redhat.com has nothing to do with my server. My Server can not resolve it or gamesekai.org (which is not my server) and a few other domain names. It can resolve every other domain (I've tried) into an IP.

My nameservers are functioning correctly, I've read the tutorials and re-configured bind/named a hundred times. I've modified it in little ways and the only way I can get these domains to resolve into an IP is by adding their IP into /etc/hosts

    From my Server:
    lynx redhat.com - errors out
    ping redhat.com - 'unknown host'
    host redhat.com - 'timed out'
    ------------------------------------------------------
    lynx host.com - loads fine
ping host.com - resolves and pings
    host host.com - Gets info
    -------------------------------------------------------
    lynx gamesekai.com - errors out
    ping gamesekai.com - 'unknow host'
    host redhat.com 'timed out'
    --------------------------------------------------------
    lynx linux.com - loads
ping linux.com - resolves and pings
    host linux.com - Gets info

I've tried several other domains and all work. These two will not resolve and there are probably more that I have not found.

    http://dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=trafficlog.net
Nameservers seem to be working fine on my server. No errors on start, restart or stop. There are no errors in log files.

If I change the nameservers to another server's nameservers, they both resolve fine. My question is, what is causing me not to be able to resolve these two domains? Is there anything that would block these two domains? I can't find anything similiar between the two domains.

Hope this makes sense, sorry for the confusion (readhat.com, redhat.com).

    Thanks

If these Domains have nothing to do with your Server, what makes you think it is a problem with your Server?

It's obvious that whomever is hosting the URLs you posted have not set them up right and it's their problem. I'm wondering where you got some of those URLs as some just seem to be non-existent to begin with.

Why can I not resolve these two domains though? I can resolve them from my home and work computer.

    redhat.com -> 66.187.232.50
    gamesekai.com -> 69.73.150.56

I can not access ftp.redhat.com (for downloads or updates) and one of my users can not access gamesekai.com (to send email or receive it, although this one does have errors).

    Any ideas?
