restart cron daemon

    Is this the proper way to restart the cron daemon on a cpanel server?

    /etc/init.d/crond restart

    Yes, though it rarely should need to be restarted. Do you have a problem with it?

    I already figured it out, the cron daemon was not running.
    Someone at the datacenter was fixing a problem with the server, he must have killed the cron daemon.

    After I started it again everything is working fine again.

    i tried /etc/init.d/crond restart
    but it said command not found.

    my cron jobs are not running. so i tried to restart cron daemon...but cant.

    try...

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/crond restart

    did youy end up finding the cause of this issue?

    One of our servers is playing up and crond has failed and wont restart

    Is it the correct command,

    /etc/init.d/crond restart

    restart chron deamon ? :eek:

    I`f found no etry in the standart documentation of linux. :confused:
    It`s knowledge for extended programmers ?

    What the chron deamon do ?

    Synchronizing system-time for background-processes ;) or
    extendet database-programs :mad:
    like ORACLE :eek: ?
