I'm going to be moving a bunch of accounts on a reseller account with MySQL 4.0 to a VPS running MySQL 4.1. Will all the database restore properly and be upgraded, or should I downgrade MySQL to 4.0 on the VPS, then upgrade after the move?

    Thanks.

It's going to depend on "how" you back them up. If mysqldump is used and then you use command line mysql to load them, it works fine. If you try to just copy over the raw mysql "files" that make up the db it won't work.

Are you moving the sites "by hand" or via the cpanel backup/restore or account transfer functions?

The raw db files generally work fine for upgrades if you run mysqlcheck or myismchk on them .

I'm using the cPanel backup/restore feature.

I transferred a few test sites, and all the databases were restored properly. :)
