    Hello,

I am trying to restore some databases. I copied /var/lib/mysql to mysql on another server. When I view the databases they are listed, but the usernames created with the databases are not listed and are not linked with the databases.
Are the usernames stored somewhere else?

    Hi,

The database users are stored in 'user' table of 'mysql' database. Please make sure that has been copied completely and ownerships of the databases are correct. The ownerships must be 'mysql.mysql'.

    Hope that will help.

Also, doing a directory copy is not the best idea... a lot of scripts like vbulletin etc will leave the tables "in use" and you will need to repair them. Also, if you had any innodb tables you are probably missing the ibdata files.
