Restore packages

Does anybody know how to restore all of the packages from a cpanel daily backup? After a crash I had to restore all of the accounts, and the packages with the accounts are back, but they do not appear with the root or reseller? So the reseller does not have any packages showing in the resellercenter!

if you still havre your old Hrd drive they are in

/var/cpanel/packages just cpy them to the new drive

Thanks for the reply, but all I have are the backup tarballs

Doesn't the packagelist get copied too (as all of the packages are in the accounts themselves and they are -also- copied)?

Right, good to know . I'll copy the packages every now and then manually.

The packages are backed up in the cPanel backups. They're in amongst the other files in:
daily/dirs/_var_cpanel.tar.gz

Thanks, but I don't seem to have that, only the account.tar.gz files? I use the ftp backup.

chirpy is right the should be there where you backed up your old back ups
/cpbackup/weekly/dirs/_var_cpanel.tar.gz but I think you were asking if the packages got restored when you restore the sites and the answer is no


just scp them from your old hard drive to the new one takes 20 seconds

Sorry, but there is no /dirs in the backup. Probably because ftp backup doesn't allow this:

Backup Config Files (not needed to restore specific accounts)

Besides, as I stated earlier, I don't have the old drive working.

Yup, that's the problem with network backups (as opposed to backup locally and then FTP them off-server) in that they don't contain the files/ and dir/ backups.
