I need to restore an account from a complete cpanel backup file, but the customer had signed up with a different username. If I rename the tar.gz file to the current username and do /scripts/restorepkg --force, will it work?

If you rename your package the data inside the package still contains the old account name files.

So, just restore the package without renaming it then simply modify the account with the new user name under whm > account functions > modify an account.

On the other hand, if you just need to restore that users home files, you could simply unpack that backup file and shove the public_html files wherever you need.
