I had a primary harddrive that has failed to boot, but could be remounted using redhat rescue disk.

How can I move contents from old drive to new cpanel on new drive?

    Thanks,
    Rob

Put both drives in the machine; they should be the same size. New drive should be primary (clean drive, no partitions or data), old drive should be secondary. Boot off a rescue CD into a shell and issue the following:

    dd if=/dev/hdb of=/dev/hda bs=1024k

After rebooting to the new drive in single user mode:

    fsck -y /dev/hda1
    mount /dev/hda1 /boot
    lilo -v
    sync
    shutdown -r now

    *Assuming that /boot is hda1

The only problem is that the new main drive is a SCSI so it is not exactly the same size as the IDE.

I was referred from my original post in another thread that mentioned my setup with IDE & SCSI.

hda was used as an example; notice the asterisk at the end of my post. The SCSI/IDE discussion you're impeding on is in regards to another thread--which was mentioned earlier in this thread.

I find it funny how when you have been doing this for years like you have you seem to forget where you come from & take for granted how much others know or dont know!
