I have created a website for a friend of mine who was messed about by the previous person who did his website.
He sent him a .zip file of his emails and then deleted everything from his servers.
I need some help/guidance on restoring the emails that are in the .zip file that he has been sent to the new server (cPanel)
Can someone help me please?
MANY thanks in advance

If you have FTP access, then you should be able to copy them directly into the relevant directory inside the mail folder.
Just make sure that you are using the correct permissions though.
FTP them using the correct FTP account.
Don't try and ftp using the root user, as they will then belong to the root user and not the account user.

It's also possible that time stamps, might get screwed up.
An email which was delivered in January, may have today's date.
Further to this, they may all show as unread.

FTP in to the user account, using the correct FTP user.

In the root (ouside of public_html) should be a mail folder, inside that should be a folder for each user account.
Then I believe you should drop them in the cur folder.

The instructions from @keat63 should work if it's just the contents of the mailbox you're restoring. You could also create an IMAP account in a mail client and add the mail through the client then allow it to synchronize.
