Restoring from backup results in Failed to restore the domain “domain.tld”

We had a hardware crash and couldn't recover the server. However, we had backups of all the accounts, and we were able to move them to another server and used whm > backup > Restore a Full Backup/cpmove File.

We have our DNS clustered, so moving the accounts to a new server affects the related zone(s).

Several accounts resulted in the following error, identified after the restore was completed:
Failed to restore the domain “domain.tld”: (XID 9zfhkk) A DNS entry for “domain.tld” already exists. You must remove this DNS entry from this server or all servers in the DNS cluster to proceed.
Firstly, how does one do that when the restore is completed already (it seems the restore process should stop and provide an option), and secondly, now that the restore is completed, how do we 'proceed'?

Our thought is to remove the related zone(s) and try to restore again using the same function, but will that work? Do we need to completely remove the parent account, remove affected zones, then restore?
