Hello, everybody.
I have an issue, please, about my forwarded emails. Actually, I don't know if it's a normal behavior or is it an issue!

I'm forwarding my emails from my website email address to my Gmail account; this works but it doesn't keep a copy of the forwarded emails on my webmail (my website email account)!
Is this normal, or should I adjust something on my cPanel?

Thank you very much.

PS: my cPanel level is "Website owner".

Thanks, Dalem, for the response; but do you mean creating an email account for the email address I am forwarding from or to?!! Because I already have an email account for the email address I'm forwarding from!

Assuming you have an actual email mailbox on the cpanel server, and not just a forward rule, then i'm guessing that you may be using a POP3 mailbox.

When you retrieve email from a POP3 mailbox, it gets downloaded to your client device (PC/Phone/Tablet etc), and then deleted from the physical mailbox on the cpanel server.

Alternatively, if you create an IMAP mailbox instead, then it will only be deleted from the CPanel server when you delete it from the client.

A positive to this is that you can also get to the same emails on many different clients.
A negative is your mailbox could grow and take up space, you may have to think about deleting stuff later down the line.

I'm confused.
The image you sent appears to be the settings for your gmail account.
But your original request was asking about retaining emails on your cpanel ?

I think you're telling me to create an IMAP mailbox in my cPanel to make this work, but I don't see how; maybe because of my cPanel access level.
Should I ask my provider hosting for that?

No, of course I can do that, and I did it several times to create some emails addresses in cPanel, but it doesn't seem to provide any way to specify IMAP feature while doing that, if it has to!
Anyway, with such addresses created in cPanel and forwarded to my Gmail address, when I read them first on Gmail, I don't find them anymore on my webmail (horde).

Aside from anything else discussed in this thread, in order to retain a copy of the email on the server the email address you're forwarding needs to exist on the server.

If the account does exist and you've set gmail to act as a mail client you need to ensure that you're retaining a copy on the server if you want the email to exist in both places.

OK, It works now.

I tried first to do the following on Gmail settings: Accounts and Import --> Check mail from other accounts --> Add a mail account; and added my website email with the "Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server" checked.
But this changed nothing!

So, I contacted my hosting provider and it appeared that there were some issues, especially an issue with the MX records not correctly set up.
After setting the MX records, the retain feature worked as expected with no need to set the website email on Gmail.

Thank you very much, all of you, for your guidance.

PS: I don't see how to mark this thread as resolved if there is such feature on the forum.
