When I FTP to a server I am getting the retrive of folder listing failed using WS_FTP. Using the command prompt I notice the ftp login completes but when I do a ls I get Connection closed by remote host.

running pure-ftp on the server, restarting the service has not helped.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe you have trying to list an directory that have more than 2000 files.

If I'm correct, you can edit the /etc/pure-ftpd.conf file

    Code:
    # 'ls' recursion limits. The first argument is the maximum number of
    # files to be displayed. The second one is the max subdirectories depth

    LimitRecursion 2000 8

    ;)

Thanks but that is exactly what I have.
Nothing has been changed on the server until we had the issue with the clamav update and its permission issues. That was corrected but have not been able to detwrmine why the ftp is no longer returning the file listings, Small or large directories. No login is working on the this box any longer.

    Right.

And you already tried to swap between pure and proftpd?
I don't know about this issue with clamav, so it's only a suggestion :)

Yes, that is what is strang, even swapping between the to ftp servers it does not help.

and this is only happening on this server, all the other cPanel servers are fine also.

    It's really strange.
Well, I'll observe this topic to see what other people said.
Hope you can solve this issue. :)
