Hello cPanel Gurus,
We are moving out of RHEL to Ubuntu 22. Currently we have the following cPanel instances
RHEL 6.10 vmware [Node1] v86.0.40
RHEL 6.10 vmware [Node2] v84.0.21
I've been reading guides and whatnot about migration and initial setups but I couldn't find a clearcut approach on how to achieve our goal - Migrate our existing cPanel instances running on RHEL (6.10) to Ubuntu 22.
docs.cpanel.net
The steps are straight forward, but is not valid on what we currently have.
Initially I had this in mind for implementation.
1. Upgrade cPanel to the latest version which is v108 on the RHEL boxes.
2. Build the new Ubuntu 22 systems and install v108 on them.
2. Follow the How to Move All cPanel Accounts from One Server to Another
3. Problem solved.
But as painful as it is, I'm already stuck and destroyed just on step 1, because RHEL 6.10 EOL'd so long ago.
Another option I had is -
1. Build the new Ubuntu 22 systems and install the same versions (v86.0.40 and v84.0.21) accordingly
-> going to Secure Downloads | cPanel, Inc. only has the latest release, is this even possible? Install an old version?
2. Use the transfer tool and transfer the production site(s) from RHEL to Ubuntu
3. Upgrade cPanel
4. Problem solved.
Then again, I'm not even sure if the install of older version is allowed.
Reaching out to the cPanel gurus out there for suggestions on whats the best course of action to complete the migration.
