I,ve just been installing another copy of Cpanel yesterday, on Red Hat 9, and I've been looking myself silly for this:

I got errors that the rndc connection was closed when applying a dns entry. I fixed:
in /etc/rndc.conf --> default key: add the slash to rndckey (so rndc-key).

The slash was in named.conf and rndc.conf in the key definition, but not in the options. I didn't have this with an install in August 2003, also on RH 9

Sorry, tried that before but did not work.

I read all the topics in this subject and came accross the fixndc a lot of the times.

I could only run the script once and the 2nd time it came up with the notification that it had already been fixed. Anyway, the error was still there.

The only thing that fixed it was the editing of the .conf
