I have been trying to find out why the root is banning for too many connections.
    I get
Banned the following ip addresses on Thu Dec 8 22:20:01 CST 2011

    xxx.xxx.xxx.x with 172 connections

Where can i raise that number? I am using pureftp. The location is slipping my mind.

    Thanks

That's from a non-cPanel 3rd party software called DDoS Deflate. Check /usr/local/ddos/ddos.conf and increase the "NO_OF_CONNECTIONS" setting.

    Are you using CSF ?
If yes, there's a setting in CSF to increase the maximum connections per ip.

Also, is better if you limit your FTP program to X number of connections simultaneously. Not unlimited.

Do not set high no. of connection per IP in csf as it is not recommended as per security aspect.
Problem seems to be with your ftp client. Please go through the cPanelTristan's post.
