Did you change your hostname ?
root@epichosting should be something like root@sub.domain.tld, sub.domain.tld being your full hostname.

it use to show the full root@epichosting.epic-hosting.com on the stable version of cPanel but when i switched to the release version now it only shows the root@epichosting but i look at dns files and everything it shows the full host name so its got to be a bug in this version of cPanel

What is the output of the command "hostname" ?
Also check that the hostname is correctly reported in the basic setup and change hostname WHM pages.
