Our company and have been recently handed over a website for updating that uses CPanel. I logged into the interface using my username and password. All seem to work within the GUI however when I try to access the files from the root folder it fails to display any of the content. Could you please assist, any help would be much appreciated.

You need to contact the host that is providing the web service for the domain you are working on and get support from them.

The previous company is no longer in business. Is there any possible way to do updates to this site in CPanel w/o recreating everything?

Unfortunately, it is unlikely you have sufficient access to the server as a Hosting Account Owner to resolve this issue.

I'd recommend going to the Backups section, create backups of your website(s) and consider moving to another hosting provider. If you generate a full backup, you can download that file and send it to your new hosting provider and things will be restored once they restore that file (including cPanel settings, databases, mail etc.).

Having done the back up, will this allow updating access to the site once reloaded with a diffrent host?

Correct. Your new web host may give you instructions on how to modify your domain with your domain registrar so the domain points to your new web host rather than the old host. After that, everything will work.

You will have to contact the web hosting provider regarding that as not all web hosting providers using cPanel/WHM enable FrontPage support.

Note that FrontPage has reached EOL and is no longer being supported by Microsoft.

Thanks again, from my understanding cPanel is an application based software program that is able to upload to the host? If so, how would I obtain this software? Also, what are the cost involved? From your reply I get the impression that there are cPanel extensions that are supported by host providers, could you suggest a few?

cPanel is server software that is installed by the web hosting provider. It is not something that hosting account owners can install themselves.
