Is it possible to create an FTP account for the root, so that the whole server can be viewed by FTP?

If you're using SSH Client from ssh.com you can open up a file transfer window from ssh. It's secure ftp.

I use WS_Ftp Pro. Have also found Winscp a good option. It's free and can be found at http://winscp.vse.cz

CuteFTP Pro also has SFTP option so you can connect as root.

I tried WS_FTP, using root as the username and my root password as the password, and I am not able to log into my server. Should I be able to? Or does it REQUIRE a secure FTP client before it will let me in?

EDIT: I downloaded WinSCP and that works GREAT and of course much more secure than trying to use WS_FTP with plain text passwords. Duh.

Must be a secure connection. With SecureFX, the connection has to be "FTP over SSH2" to connect to root.
