My server was set up in WHM, initially with a primary name server on the root ip address. However this name server has already been registered with an ip address and is the primary name server for another server.
When the mistake was discovered we tried to delete the name server and reassign the root ip address to the correct name server, but the next ip address was always reassigned not the root ip address.
How do we permanently delete the incorrect name server on the root ip address as it is causing unresolved records or isn't this possible and we will have to rebuild the server?

Thanks for any help which is urgently needed.

    Go on, have a guess
From a DNS perspective, what you're saying doesn't make a great deal of sense :) From a name resolution perspective, if you're keeping your servers main IP address, make sure that the following two files are setup correctly:

The rest is down to DNS zone files and what IP addresses you have defined at the domain name registrar(s).
